Setup

Set up your chat
Enter your Twitch or Kick channel and pick font, size and style. The preview shows your real chat.
Copy the link
Your settings are stored in the link itself. No account, nothing to save.
Add a browser source
In OBS, add a source, choose Browser and paste the link as the URL. A width of 400 to 500 and a height of 600 to 800 fits most layouts.

The overlay loads your channel's 7TV, BTTV and FFZ emotes and shows badges the way your viewers see them in chat.

Questions about the chat overlay
Is the chat overlay really free?
Yes. You don't need an account and there is no watermark. The overlay runs in the browser source and reads your chat directly from Twitch and Kick.
Does it work outside of OBS?
Yes. Any streaming software with a browser source works, like Streamlabs Desktop or Meld Studio. The background is transparent.
Can I show YouTube chat?
Not in the free overlay. The chat designer in Vision combines Twitch, YouTube and Kick and is part of Vision's free plan.
What's the difference to the chat designer in Vision?
This page gives you a chat overlay in one link. In Vision's chat designer you style each part of a message separately, add YouTube chat, animations and custom CSS, and keep the chat next to alerts and counters in one overlay. Vision's free plan includes one overlay with up to 10 layers.
How do I change my settings later?
Create a new link with the new settings on this page and replace the URL in your browser source with it. In Vision, changes show up in OBS as soon as you save, without a new link.
Why don't I see any messages?
Check the channel name. Messages appear as soon as someone writes in chat; older messages aren't loaded.
