How it works
Use Vision’s Challenges layer for a run across several games. Add your game list, select the game you are playing and update its progress during the stream. Send the overlay to OBS as a Browser Source and invite a moderator to help operate it.
What you need
- A list of games and a clear win condition for each
- OBS Studio and a Vision account
- An operator: you, or an invited moderator with overlay editing access
Step by step
Write the rules for the run
Decide what completes each game: one match win, a boss clear or another goal. Agree whether a loss changes anything, who confirms a win and when the run ends. Keep those rules visible to your operator.
Add a Challenges layer
Create or open an overlay in Vision. Choose + → Challenges and name the layer after your run. Add the games you plan to play. Use the game names your viewers will recognize.
Set the current game
Select the game you are playing. If you want to track time per game, use the available game timer controls. Position and style the layer so the list remains readable without covering important gameplay. Save the overlay.
Display it in OBS
Copy the overlay output URL from its install controls. Add a Browser Source in OBS, paste the URL and use matching dimensions. Check the longest game name and the full list in the OBS preview.
Rehearse the moderator handoff
Invite your moderator through Vision’s Permissions settings with a role that can view and edit the overlay. Have them select your channel, update one game’s progress and switch the current game. Restore the starting state before the real run.
A game list or just a win/loss counter?
Use a Challenges layer when the audience needs to see which games are left and which game you are playing. For a ranked session in one game, two Score layers labeled Wins and Losses may be clearer. You do not need a multi-game board for a single number.
A rule such as ‘three consecutive wins’ is part of your format. Tell your operator how to update progress after a loss. This walkthrough does not configure automatic win detection or an automatic streak reset.
Make the next game obvious
Before switching games, confirm the result, update progress and select the next game. Give one person responsibility for that sequence so the streamer and mod do not both record the same win.
Keep game names short enough for your layout. If the challenge has many entries, test the entire list at the size viewers will actually see. An attractive editor preview is not enough if the text is tiny on stream.
If something is not working
- A game name gets cut off? Shorten the label or give the layer more room, then check the OBS preview again.
- The mod cannot operate the challenge? Confirm the invitation was accepted, your channel is selected and overlay editing is allowed.
- Starting a new run? Set every game’s progress and timer to the intended starting state, then check OBS before going live.
Common questions
Does Vision know when I win a game?
This setup is manually operated. You or your mod records the result. It does not require or configure an integration with the game.
Can a moderator update it from another computer?
Yes. Invite them in Vision, assign the required overlay permissions and have them select your channel. They operate the overlay from their browser.
Can I add time tracking to the challenge?
The Challenges layer has per-game timer controls. For a separate on-screen countdown, use a Timer layer and configure it for your format.
Do I need to rebuild my OBS scenes?
No. Add the overlay output as a Browser Source to the scene you already use, then position it alongside your existing sources.
Test it before going live
The Free plan includes one overlay with up to 10 layers and one simultaneous OBS connection. Additional overlays and custom roles depend on your plan. Check the current limits before planning your team setup.
