Soundboard for your stream
The soundboard in the overlay editor lets you upload audio clips and play them through your overlay – alert sounds, reactions, music stingers or anything else. The sound plays wherever your overlay is open, for example in your OBS browser source.
Updated
Open the soundboard
Open your overlay
Open the overlay in the overlay editor.
Open Sounds
Click the Sounds button in the toolbar at the bottom of the editor.
Upload sounds
Click Upload File and choose an audio file from your computer.
Play a sound
Click the play button next to a sound to play it on stream.
Uploading sounds
You can upload any common audio file, such as MP3 or WAV. After the upload finishes, the sound appears in your soundboard. If your plan limits the number of sounds, a counter next to the upload button shows how many you've used.
Playing and managing sounds
- Play / Stop
- Plays the sound on stream. Click again to stop it immediately.
- Preview
- Listen to a sound yourself before you play it on stream.
- Volume
- The slider sets the playback volume (0–100 %) for sounds on stream.
- Search
- Find a sound by its name.
- More
- Download or Delete a sound.
- Text to Speech
- Type a message, pick a voice and play it as audio on the overlay.
Choose where sounds play
By default, sounds play on All connections. Use the Play on selector to play them on one specific connection only – for example on your OBS browser source but not on a preview monitor.
Tips
- Normalize your audio before uploading so sounds aren't too quiet or too loud for your viewers.
- Keep reaction sounds short – long clips overlap awkwardly when they're triggered several times.
- Test the volume before you go live while watching your stream audio.
- Name sounds clearly, e.g. „alert-sub“ or „reaction-laugh“, so you find them fast.
Troubleshooting
- No sound? Check that the overlay is connected (see Connections), that the volume isn't at 0 % and that the right connection is selected.
- Some browsers block autoplay until you've interacted with the page – click into the browser window once.
- Too quiet or too loud? Adjust the volume slider, re-upload a normalized file or check the OBS audio mixer.
