Show Twitch polls and predictions in OBS
The Twitch Polls layer shows your channel's polls and predictions on your overlay. When you start a poll or prediction on Twitch, the question and options appear in the layer and update live as viewers vote.
Updated
Add the Twitch Polls layer
Open your overlay
Open the overlay you use in OBS, or create a new one.
Add the layer
Click Add Layer and choose Twitch Polls.
Choose what to show
Set What should be displayed? to Polls or Predictions, depending on what you run on stream.
Position and size
Drag the layer into place. The poll grows from the top or bottom edge of the layer box – see Poll display.
Save and check OBS
Save the overlay and reload your browser source in OBS if it's already open.
Polls vs. predictions
The layer card shows whether live data is ready. If Twitch permissions are missing, click Sign in with Twitch again to grant them.
- Polls
- Standard channel polls with multiple options. Each option shows its vote count.
- Predictions
- Channel points predictions with exactly two outcomes. Each outcome shows the channel points on it.
Layer settings
When the layer is set to Polls, the layer card also lists your Recent polls with title, winner and time – for reference in the editor only.
- What should be displayed?
- Polls or Predictions – must match what you start on Twitch.
- Preview
- Shows sample data in the editor. Turn it off to see live events in the editor while testing.
- Preview options (1–10)
- Number of sample options for polls. Predictions always show two.
- Poll display
- Build upward or Build downward – where the poll is anchored inside the layer.
- Hide while awaiting result
- Predictions only. Shows the layer while betting is open, hides it once the prediction locks and brings it back with the result. Useful for long predictions, such as a football match. Off by default.
- Hide after end (seconds)
- How long results stay visible after a poll or prediction ends before the layer fades out.
- Fonts & colors
- Question and option fonts, container background, bar colors, leading option color, corner radius and progress bar height.
On stream vs. in the editor
- OBS browser source: live Twitch events appear automatically as long as the overlay is open.
- Editor with preview on: you see sample options to design the layout.
- Editor with preview off: live events appear on the canvas just like on stream.
Style it with custom CSS
For finer control, select the layer, click Advanced and add your rules under Custom CSS (Edit CSS). Vision scopes the CSS to that layer, so other layers aren't affected. Use #layer at the start of a selector, for example #layer .twitch-poll__title.
Colors, fonts, bar height and corner radius from the layer settings are applied as inline styles. Use selectors with at least the same specificity, such as #layer .twitch-poll__bar-fill, to override them. Polls and predictions use the same classes.
.twitch-poll- Outer wrapper of the poll.
.twitch-poll__container- Card with background and padding.
.twitch-poll__title- The poll or prediction question.
.twitch-poll__choice- One option row with label and bar.
.twitch-poll__choice-label- Option title.
.twitch-poll__choice-metric- Votes for polls, channel points for predictions.
.twitch-poll__bar-track- Full-width track behind the fill.
.twitch-poll__bar-fill- Filled part of the bar; its width shows the share of the total.
.twitch-poll__choice--leading- The option with the most votes or channel points.
.twitch-poll__choice--winner- The winning option after the end.
.twitch-poll__choice--loser- The other options after the end (80 % opacity and scaled down by default).
Frequently asked questions
Can my mods change the poll layer?
Yes. Mods with overlay edit access can change the layout and colors like any other layer. Live data always comes from the channel owner's Twitch connection.
